Research Focus
We are a TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH LAB that utilizes clinically relevant mouse models of sleep apnea and lung cancer. We study the effect of cyclical intermittent hypoxia, the underlying pathology of obstructive sleep apnea, on the immune system and its subsequent effect on lung cancer progression and metastases.
PRECISION MEDICINE My overarching goal is to personalize how we diagnose and treat diseases for the individual. We want to ask the big questions in Medicine and be the bridges between Basic Science, Engineering and Clinical Trials so that we can shift how we think about health and disease. We embrace all forms of technology (e.g., wearables, next-gen imaging), OMICS (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics), and machine learning to deliver precision medicine.
TEAM SCIENCE Precision medicine requires excellent collaboration with basic scientists, clinicians and computational engineers. I am fortunate to work with wonderful collaborators to (1) understand cancer drug resistance using a machine learning approach and (2) develop novel blood, physiological and imaging “biomarkers.”
