Research
The Lim Lab’s strength lies in the mouse models we have developed. By utilizing both a spontaneous model and a syngeneic orthotopic model, we start with a single tumor that progresses and metastasizes that we track using uCT scans of the lung. Armed with these models, we have several different projects.
- Evaluate the effect of cyclical intermittent hypoxia on the primary lung tumor as well as the metastatic niches, with special attention to immunosuppression.
- Evaluate the effect of age on primary lung tumor progression and response to anti-cancer drug treatment, with special attention to immunometabolic mechanisms.
- Develop an in silico approach to systematically understand primary and secondary resistance to anti-cancer drug treatment.
- Develop an autosegmentation algorithm using ground truth uCT scan data: mice are scanned with nano12000 and tumors will be segmented by experts; machine learning techniques will then be applied to autosegment tumors.
- Continue to develop our mouse model to simulate humans with lung cancer to improve translation of results to clinical trials.
