Research Focus

Our research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying disparities in chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. Our methods vary from retrospective survival analyses to qualitative analyses using focus groups and surveys. We incorporate the community into our research whenever possible using community-based participatory research methods. We are currently conducting a longitudinal study of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and chronic liver disease to investigate determinants of survival. Biospecimens will be collected, which will facilitate incorporation of translational research aims in the future.
