Research Focus

Dr. Kurtenbach’s research focuses on uveal melanoma, which is the most common primary tumor in the eyes of adults. Uveal melanoma remains notoriously hard to treat, and forms almost uniformly lethal metastasis in most cases. The laboratory is investigating the genetics and epigenetics driving metastatic spread of this disease, and exploring new treatment angles.
