Research Focus
Dr. Ramos' lab focuses on focuses on studying the pathophysiology of viral associated lymphomas and development of translational studies designed to target the biology of these tumors. Dr. Ramos' lab heavy focus is on HTLV-1 associated adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma (ATLL), and developing therapeutic approaches for this malignancy. Dr. Ramos leads a multi-investigator NIH-RO1 project entitled "Epigenetic Targeting of Afro-Caribbean Variant of HTLV-1 Related Adult T-cell Leukemia-lymphoma", which revolves around a novel clinical approach to treat ATLL and studying the molecular basis of HDAC inhibitors in this type of cancer in order to advance the treatment of a fatal and neglected disease affecting a U.S. sub-population.
