ATs will be mentored by nationally recognized Medical Doctors board certified in Sports Medicine at the University of Miami Health System, a premier academic-based research institution. The 13-month program starts in August and includes a stipend, medical benefits, dental benefits, retirement matching, and reimbursement for certification renewal, BLS, and CEUs, if applicable.
Mission
Our athletic training residency program cultivates a dynamic learning environment, driven by a commitment to innovation and education. Through multidisciplinary collaboration and experiential learning, we empower ATs to become leaders in their field, equipped with the knowledge and skills to be successful, independent health care providers in sports and musculoskeletal medicine.
What Sets Us Apart
What sets our residency program apart from the rest is that on our journey to accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), each component of the program is intentionally designed to create a comprehensive learning experience that aligns with CAATE standards, reinforcing the program’s mission and goals. Residents are encouraged to engage in quality improvement or innovation projects that align with the program’s commitment to cutting-edge practices which will prepare residents for leadership in an evolving field.
Program Structure and Goals
- Mission Integration: The program’s mission aligns with CAATE’s goals, emphasizing innovation, experiential learning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Competency-Based Learning: Each domain is structured around competencies that residents need to master.
- Didactic and Experiential Learning Balance: There is a balance of active learning, clinical rotations, and hands-on experiences.
- Mentorship and Faculty Development: Residents are paired with mentors from various specialties (e.g., primary care, orthopedics) and in their last month mentor onboarding residents, to facilitate diverse perspectives and growth.
