The overall mission of the scientific research program in SCFLD and its Hepatology Laboratory is:

  1. To provide integrated molecular approaches to the study of liver diseases
  2. To bridge clinical medicine & basic science with the translation of fundamental knowledge toward advancing the treatment of liver diseases
  3. To train and foster the growth of future clinical investigators in the field of translational hepatology. Our Lab has a diverse research program w/ interest & expertise ranging from molecular biology, virology, cell biology, immunology, systems biology & functional genomics/genetics, which provides a fertile scientific environment for the training of clinical & postdoctoral fellows as well as medical & undergraduate students.

The laboratory offers extensive experience in studying the pathogenesis of liver disease. The laboratory also offers state-of-the-art equipment that would support a full spectrum of research technology needed for diagnostic, clinic & Basic research.
