It all began when Judy Aguirre's cousin, Jani, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. She started baking cookies for Jani’s doctors and nurses during treatments. Encouraged by the response, she created “Cookies for Jani” and in 2008 started donating the proceeds to support research at Sylvester, where years earlier, her father had been treated for squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. “I firmly believe what makes Sylvester stand out is the targeted treatments and compassionate care provided to all their patients,” said Judy, who is also a Sylvester breast cancer survivor.
