National Firefighter Cancer Symposium 2020
Miami, Florida
The second annual National Firefighter Cancer Symposium was held on February 27-29, 2020, at the Hard Rock Stadium. NFCS 2020 began with opening remarks by the event coordinators followed by two full days of speakers and breakout sessions.
The NFCS 2020 focused on cancer prevention interventions and health promotion tailored to the specific needs of those in the fire service. Over the course of three days, we provided tutorials on best practices for cancer risk reduction behaviors and successful strategies to make changes at the individual and organizational levels.
Our symposium topics were presented by nationally recognized experts who provided the latest research on cancer-relevant topics from PFAS to survivorship, with interactive discussion throughout.
The conference was concluded with the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC). As the signature initiative of the Miami Dolphins Foundation, the DCC is a way all of us can be cancer fighters! 100% of funds raised go to innovative cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, including the Firefighter Cancer Initiative.
We appreciate all who attended the NFCS 2020. As we continue to build partnerships across academia and the fire service, we are all fighting together to reduce the cancer burden in the fire service.
