Head and neck lymphoma is cancer of lymph nodes located in the neck. Lymph nodes are part of the body's immune system that fights disease. Head and neck lymphoma is one of the most common head and neck primary cancers. For the most part, lymphoma treatment is handled by lymphoma specialists. Lymphoma responds well to treatment.

Types of Head and Neck Lymphomas:

  • Large B-cell Lymphoma: This is a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or cancer of t he lymphatic system. The job of B cells is to prevent infection in the body.

  • Non-Hodgkin LymphomaNon-Hodgkin lymphoma has 35 different subtypes. Subtypes are defined by the differences in how fast these cancers grow.

  • Hodgkin LymphomaThere are two main types of Hodgkin lymphoma: classical and nodular lymphocyte predominant.

  • Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma: In this type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, lymphocytes become malignant and affect the skin. Often cutaneous lymphoma can be effectively treated with topical preparations.

  • T-cell Lymphoma: These lymphomas account for approximately 15 percent of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the United States.
