Karina Galoian, Ph.D.
- Research Associate Professor
- Research Director Sarcoma Disease Site Group
- Orthopedics & Rehabilitation
Dr. Galoians laboratory focuses on studying sarcomas, which are very resistant to conventional treatments and highly aggressive. Therefore the search for new therapies is urgent. The primary goal of her research is understanding the molecular pathways leading to malignant transformation. The experimental work with hypothalamic neuropeptide PRP-1 discovered earlier in the collaborative effort lead to promising results of sarcoma growth drastic inhibition via targeting cancer stem cells responsible for malignant cell renewal and drug resistance.
