Advanced Training for Advanced Practice Providers

The Oncology Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program at Sylvester offers specialized training for APPs pursuing a career in oncology. This one-year fellowship equips APPs to manage complex cancer cases across diverse clinical settings while fostering professional growth. Participants will expand their professional network and gain experience working within a multidisciplinary health care team at South Florida’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center.

Mission

Dedicated to developing future leaders in oncology through education, mentoring, and hands-on training. The program empowers APPs to enhance patient care in diverse communities using the latest research, technology and treatment innovations.

Fellowship Structure and Training

Participants will complete rotations across various University of Miami Health System (UHealth) and Sylvester locations, gaining experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Program Overview (52 Weeks):

  • Hospital Orientation: 1 week
  • Didactic Training: Integrated within the 52 weeks
  • Clinical Rotations: 41 weeks
  • Elective Specialty Focus: 8 weeks
  • Vacation: 2 weeks

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduate of an accredited master’s program in a relevant field
  2. Valid State of Florida APRN License and Board Certification from a nationally accredited organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
  3. Valid State of Florida Physician Assistant License and Board certification as a Physician Assistant from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  4. Current Certification in BLS and ACLS
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. Basic Computer Knowledge in Microsoft
  7. CITI Program certification upon employment
  8. ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certificate course completion upon hire or during orientation
