Research Focus

Dr. Jonathan H. Schatz, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The Schatz lab works on mechanisms of treatment resistance and therapeutic alternatives focused primarily on B- and T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas and other hematologic malignancies. The laboratory employs detailed genomic analyses of patient samples to discovery key drivers of treatment resistance. Functional studies in accurate disease models characterize resistance mechanisms with a goal to discover novel treatment approaches for translation to use in patients with unmet clinical needs. Mentees in the Schatz lab receive close attention to scientific career development with emphasis on moving forward toward research independence and leadership in the field in a challenging but supportive environment widely collaborative both within and outside of UM.
