Advances in early detection, treatment, and an aging population have led to an unprecedented increase in cancer survivors in the United States. That's why we created the Cancer Survivorship and Translational Behavioral Sciences Initiative at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Together, clinicians and scientists across various disciplines work to foster specialized cancer survivorship care and research, ensure evidence-based and state-of-the-art survivorship care, and provide comprehensive, coordinated services across the health system.

Our approach to survivorship centers on our patients’ unique needs. We connect oncology support services, including psychosocial, rehabilitative, integrative and palliative care, among many others. Our several specialized survivorship medical clinics address late effects and long-term effects of treatment, lifestyle factors and comorbidities, surveillance and screening for recurring or secondary cancers, and coordination of care among providers.

Our patients and clinics, along with our Cancer Control (CC) research program, are the foundation of the Cancer Survivorship and Translational Behavioral Sciences Initiative.
