At the UHealth Center for Reproductive Medicine, our mission is to help cancer survivors preserve their future fertility.

At the time of a cancer diagnosis, you may not be thinking about family planning. But cancer treatments can sometimes cause fertility issues later in life. We want you to get informed and have access to all the fertility options available if and when the time comes.

What services does Oncofertility include?

Depending on the type of cancer, your treatment, and your long-term fertility goals, our specialists can help you choose the right preservation method. This method takes place before you begin your cancer treatment.

We offer services such as:

  • Sperm banking
  • Testicular tissue banking
  • Egg banking
  • Embryo banking
  • Ovarian Tissue banking

How Does Fertility Preservation Work?

After you receive your cancer diagnosis, you will meet with a specialist from the oncofertility team. Your specialist will help you determine the right preservation option based on the type of cancer, your reproductive age, and whether you received chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Fertility preservation treatments must occur before your initial cancer protocol. Once you are ready to start family planning, if the cancer treatment has affected your reproductive capacity, you will return for continued care with your oncofertility specialist and utilize what you had preserved ahead of the cancer treatment.

Patients in their reproductive ages and pre-puberty stages can benefit from oncofertility services.
