Nardiz Higuera Cooke, a cancer survivor treated at Sylvester, created The Radiant Sentinels, an art collection made from radiation masks used during cancer treatment. Drawing on a lifelong connection to art, she transformed two of her own masks into sculptural works and invited other survivors to donate their masks, which she decorated. The collection was showcased during Miami Art Week and displayed at Sylvester. Through this project, Nardiz, who prefers to go by her first name, reimagined a symbol of treatment and offered a new perspective shaped by personal experience and the shared stories of cancer survivors.
