Center for the Advancement of Bereavement Care

The Center for the Advancement of Bereavement Care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center aims to ensure that no grieving family member goes unnoticed or without the essential support they need. To accomplish this, we are building a grief-informed workforce and community by disseminating evidence-based bereavement support through training initiatives and community education.

At the Center for the Advancement of Bereavement Care, we offer a science-based approach to understanding and coping with grief.

Our goal is to bring science-based bereavement care, resources, assessments, interventions, education, and tool kits to healthcare systems and communities to establish more accessible, impactful bereavement support services. Through compassionate care, rigorous research, and evidence-based education, we aim to empower healthcare professionals, individuals who are grieving, and the friends and family who support them.

The cornerstone of our center is the Transitional Bereavement Care Model.
