The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR) at Sylvester provides researchers with sophisticated methods for the analysis and preparative sorting of both normal and tumor cells. The facility helps researchers to measure parameters at the single-cell level including apoptosis, gene expression, drug metabolism, immune responses and pathways of cellular activation, both normal and tumor-related.
The shared resource maintains instruments, computer workstations for data analysis and related equipment, to support scientists affiliated with Sylvester’s multidisciplinary research programs, as well as researchers in a wide variety of cancer-related research projects. The facility also provides training, cell sorting technologies and data analysis software and services.
The facility is located on the seventh floor of the Rosenstiel building and houses state-of-the-art instruments, with highly experienced staff. In addition to our traditional FACS equipment, two spectral analysis cytometers allow for highly multi-plexed analysis of up to 40+ fluorescence parameters. Mass cytometry services are also available, for the analysis of up to 50 heavy metal-conjugated reagents, using the CyTOF Helios system for cells in suspension or the CyTOF Hyperion imager for the analysis of tissue sections. We maintain a reagent bank and offer custom metal-tagged antibody conjugations in support of our CyTOF users. A dedicated computer server is available for storage, analysis and archiving of data files.
