Onco-Genomics Shared Resource

The Onco-Genomics Shared Resource (OGSR) provides Sylvester members access to state-of-the-art technology platforms for studying the genomics and epigenetics of cancer. Major instrumentation includes:

  • Two Illumina NextSeq 500 sequencers
  • Perkin Elmer Zephyr G3 NGS liquid handler
  • Nano String Gen2 system
  • Droplet-digital PCR system

The OGSR focuses on providing rapid turnaround times, a service menu tailored to the needs of the Sylvester research programs, and the cost-effective use of resources. Next generation sequencing (NGS) services support RNA-Seq of all types and DNA-Seq for epigenetics workflows such as ChIP-Seq and ATAC-Seq. Additionally, gene expression and miRNA assays employing nanoString molecular barcoding or analytical PCR support work with difficult or rare sample types and produce a low analytical burden. Basic services for sample extraction and quality control are available to support investigators without extensive laboratory resources. OGSR staff provide technical consultation and pre-award support to investigators in partnership with other Sylvester shared resources to foster rigorous workflows and the best use of resources.
