What began as a community cycling event has become one of the nation’s most powerful philanthropic engines for cancer research, and a transformative force for cancer research in South Florida.
In 2025, Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) once again shattered records, raising more than $15 million for Sylvester. The milestone marked the largest single-year fundraising total in the event’s history and reinforced the unwavering commitment of donors, riders, runners, walkers and volunteers to accelerate cancer research and patient care.
Since its inception, Dolphins Cancer Challenge has raised close to $100 million, with 100% of participant-raised funds directed to cancer research at Sylvester. Those dollars fuel innovation across the cancer continuum, from prevention and early detection to leading-edge therapies, while supporting Sylvester’s mission to deliver cancer care to all communities.
Central to that mission is another initiative sponsored by DCC and the American Cancer Society (ACS), two organizations that teamed up to tackle the critical cancer health gaps in the populations that Sylvester serves. The $8.1 million philanthropic partnership began raising funds and awareness for cancer.
“It’s exciting to welcome the American Cancer Society, a leading cancer-fighting organization, to our team. This partnership promises to support further our ‘one team, one fight’ efforts to fund lifesaving cancer research.”
DCC funding plays a critical role in advancing this work. Philanthropic support helps expand community-based research, increase access to clinical trials and develop tailored interventions that improve screening, diagnosis and treatment outcomes. For donors, the impact is both immediate and enduring, translating generosity into measurable progress in communities historically left behind.
Dolphins Cancer Challenge continued to grow in both participation and reach. Recent events set new records for dollars raised, as well as for the number of participants, teams and corporate partners engaged. Each year, thousands unite around a shared purpose: supporting Sylvester’s physician-scientists as they push the boundaries of what is possible in cancer care.
Together, through record-breaking generosity and a shared commitment to finding cancer cures, donors to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge are not just funding research, they are shaping the future of cancer care.
