OUR RESEARCH
In 2025, Sylvester’s research community stood at the threshold of transformation, where bold ideas and pioneering discoveries reshaped the future of cancer care. Sylvester’s Firefighter Cancer Initiative marked a decade of impact, driving policy change, prevention strategies and survivorship support for those who risk their lives to protect others, a model now recognized nationwide.
Collaboration fueled breakthroughs, as our scientists and University of Miami engineers unveiled their research on a first-of-its-kind minimally invasive, magnetoelectric nanoparticle technology for pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest diagnoses. Our researchers also sounded the alarm on rising alcohol-related cancer deaths, calling for greater awareness and action to address this growing public health challenge.
The Sylvester Innovates Fund launched its first biomedical competition to accelerate early-stage discoveries from lab to clinic and fostering a culture of entrepreneurial science. In the realm of brain tumors, new drug therapies and personalized approaches offered hope where few options once existed.
These milestones reflected a year when horizons expanded, and the future of cancer research was truly transformed, here at Sylvester, where discovery knows no limits.
