“From the earliest age I can remember, I was very motivated to try and help people if they were hurt or injured,” said Damian Green, M.D., the Ron and Nedra Kalish Family Endowed Chair in Stem Cell Transplantation and chief of the Division of Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at Sylvester.
Dr. Green leads groundbreaking research in cellular immunotherapy. He develops next-generation CAR T-cell therapies that reprogram a patient’s own immune cells to attack cancer, and he designs strategies to overcome resistance and improve durability of treatments. By spearheading clinical trials and translating discoveries into practice, Dr. Green, who came from Fred Hutch Cancer Center, is shaping the future of treatment for blood cancers while maintaining a specialized focus on multiple myeloma, B-cell lymphoma, stem cell transplant and immunotherapy.
