The University of Miami and Sylvester launched an 18-month certification program in exercise oncology to train the next generation of specialists in this emerging field. Led by Tracy Crane, Ph.D., RDN, co-leader of Sylvester’s Cancer Control Program and director of lifestyle medicine, prevention and digital health, and Laura Kohn Wood, dean of the School of Education and Human Development, the program began in January 2026. It combines classroom instruction with supervised clinical training at Sylvester, along with structured coursework, hands-on internships and mentored experiences focused on exercise as part of cancer care. Supported by stipends in later semesters, the program was developed to build on Sylvester’s research and clinical expertise in lifestyle medicine and exercise oncology.
