Drs. Patricia Jeudin, M.D., and Matthew Schlumbrecht, M.D., M.P.H., formed a research-focused mentoring relationship after joining the Miller School and Sylvester. United by a shared commitment to gynecologic oncology research, their collaboration grew through regular dialogue, guidance and trust. With Schlumbrecht’s mentorship in grant writing and study development, Jeudin strengthened her research voice and advanced toward independent investigation. Over time, their relationship evolved into a close professional partnership, one that underscores how mentorship fuels discovery, supports academic growth and advances research that can ultimately improve patient care.
Drs. Abdulrahman Sinno, M.D., and Navya Nair, M.D., M.P.H., first met as medical residents, Dr. Sinno as a senior resident and Dr. Nair as a first-year. They bonded over a shared interest in women’s health and gynecologic oncology, particularly caring for patients facing economic and social barriers. After working together for two years at Emory University, they went their separate ways: Dr. Sinno practiced in Beirut and Dr. Nair practiced in New Orleans, and they both built their careers and families. Years later, Dr. Sinno, now Chief of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, recruited Dr. Nair to Sylvester, where they now collaborate clinically and in research. Their enduring mentoring relationship continues to shape careers and advance cancer care.
