Introduction
Welcome to Sylvester Pegasus, a dedicated cluster within Pegasus, the University of Miami’s flagship high-performance computing resource designed to support data-intensive research and innovation across all disciplines. With over 350 compute nodes available to employees and students, Sylvester Pegasus provides a powerful, scalable environment for large-scale computations, complex simulations, and advanced analytics. At its core is a specialized subsystem featuring 1,024 compute cores, 8 TB of memory, and 1 PB of high-performance storage—managed as part of the broader Pegasus cluster by the Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC).
Sylvester Pegasus is accessible to Sylvester researchers and Cancer Center members. The system is designed to make high-performance computing easier to use, with clear documentation, a streamlined access and approval process, tiered usage policies, and centralized monitoring. These features are in place to help you focus on your research while supporting a fair and transparent distribution of resources.
As we continue to enhance cost recovery models and resource management, the Sylvester Data Science group in collaboration with IDSC remains committed to providing cutting-edge infrastructure and comprehensive support. Whether you're working on genomics, protein modeling, machine learning, or other cancer-focused, data-driven research, Sylvester Pegasus is there to accelerate your discovery.
